2009 Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open Oct. 24, 2009, Couchiching Beach Park, City of Orillia.
With the resounding success of the 2007 and 2008 Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open presented by Jack Link’s Beef Jerky and BoaterExam.com, Bass Pro Shops and its partners continue to commit the needed resources to the Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open on Oct. 24 based out of Couchiching Beach Park, City of Orillia.
Of note, the 30lbs Toyota Truck Record payout eluded 2008 Champions, (brothers) Howard & Mike Gifford who weighed in 28.36lbs. Their weight was shy of the previous all-time Canadian one-day tournament record of 29.90lbs set in 2006 by partners John MacDonald & Steve Hawkins. With no team topping 30lbs, the Toyota Truck Record Payout will increase by another $5,000 for the 2009 event - a total bonus valued at $15,000 over and above the guaranteed (with 100 boat field) 1st place prize of 25,000!
As other respective contingencies fall into place, the 1st Place Team at the 2009 Bass Pro Shops Lake Simcoe Open has the opportunity to walk away with $50,000 or more!

Conditions Applying to fishing Licence Sales- New Zealand.
Your licence contributes towards the management and protection of New Zealand's sports fishery and hunting resources. Because you are making your contribution we have to try and make sure that other users also make their contribution. That is why we have rangers who check that anglers and hunters have licences.
YOU MUST PURCHASE AND SIGN YOUR LICENCE BEFORE YOU GO FISHING OR HUNTING.
You must have your licence with you at all the times you are fishing or hunting or carrying assembled fishing or hunting gear.
If you purchased your licence over the Internet or the 0800 telephone service, and you wish to fish or hunt before you have received it, you may, but you must carry:
- 1. Some form of positive identification, ie a driver's licence. This is so that if a ranger asks you for your licence you can prove who you are.
- 2. Your licence ID number which will be given to you at the time of sale.
Licences are valid in NZ only. Fishing licences do not cover the Taupo region. Please refer to the DOC website for more information on fishing in Taupo.
Licences are not upgradeable, exchangeable or refundable. Report lost or stolen licences to your local Fish and Game office and they'll issue you with a replacement.

Every person who wants to go fresh water fishing or game bird hunting must first purchase a licence.New Zaland.
The licence fees are primarily charged to cover the cost of managing the fish and birds and the habitat they depend on. The provision of services to anglers and hunters and advocating their interests is also included in the licence fee.
Licence fees were originally spent on increasing fish and bird populations. The priority changed in the 1960’s and became focused on protecting important habitat against development, both in the rural sector and through industry. It was quickly realised that quality habitat produces good numbers of sports fish and game birds.
Habitat advocacy remains the major focus of Fish and Game Councils and a significant percentage of the councils’ money goes into advocating habitat protection.
Over the last five or six years an emphasis has also been placed on providing better information and services to anglers and hunters and advocating their interests to the wider community.
